We stayed in La Union for 3 nights and we decided to hop from one hostel to another to maximize our experience. We wish we could stay longer, but of course, our time and budget would not permit us. Anyway, during our brief time in La Union, we stayed in Vessel Hostel, Flotsam and Jetsam Hostel, and San Juan Surf Resort. If we stayed a little longer, we would have also tried Charlie’s Hangar Surf Resort, Urbiz Garden, and although a bit pricey, we would love to try Kahuna Beach Resort and Spa, too.
Now, I came up with a compilation of hotels/hostels/resorts that I believe will make your stay in La Union so much better. Read on and take advantage of the photos that I took. Based on experience, it was very hard to book rooms on a weekend (or any day in particular during peak season). You should reserve slots (and settle the payment) at least one month prior to your stay.
It may seem obvious by the excessive amount of photos I have taken of this place, but I can’t deny that Vessel Hostel was easily my favorite hostel in La Union. I never thought I would fall in love with a hostel. I had such a comfortable stay, I loved every bit of the experience. I almost did not want to leave our room if not for the fact that I came to La Union to explore and document its beauty. The interior, the bunk beds, the crisp and clean sheets, the vibe, everything! I love everything about Vessel. I would love to be back someday soon.
Flotsam and Jetsam Hostel
Flotsam and Jetsam provides a very laid-back ambience. The interiors are dainty and the KitchenBar is a great place to hangout. In my opinion, one of its major advantages is its location. The hostel is fronting a beach that is a few kilometers away from the main surfing area in Urbiztondo, which means you can enjoy a less-crowded beach.
San Juan Surf Resort
One of the reasons why I decided to try out San Juan Surf Resort is its interesting story. It was established in 1992 and is one of the pioneer resorts in the area. The food in Coast Call Kitchen and Bar is a must-try!
Charlie’s Hangar Surf Hostel
Although quite similar to the dormitory-type bunk beds of Vessel Hostel, I would still love to try staying for at least a night here at Charlie’s Hangar Surf Resort because, well, look at that doggo. How can you resist?
Neighboring Flotsam and Jetsam, Urbiz Garden seems to be a place where I can enjoy peaceful moments by the beach. Look at all the green surrounding the place! It looks like one of those places that will instantly relax your senses. Also, I would love to try staying in one of their cabanas.
Kahuna Beach Resort
Dubbed as the premier resort in the area, Kahuna Beach Resort and Spa boasts of its cottages and villas that are designed with natural materials and high-tech functionalities. There is apool for the guests to enjoy and the rooms are Balinese inspired.
If you are on a tight budget, there is also a variety of resorts that you can choose from. Although, I was not able to explore and get to know the prices, I’m sure you will find one that will suit your budget. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this post. I cannot wait for you to visit and experience San Juan, La Union! 🙂
